I can't remember seeing many at all. Although I have read they use the unwanted ones from Shermans.

Don
That is probably why the Fitters in the pic above had one, they, unlike the Motor Bn men , had access to both the guns and ammo.

Re: .50 cal on British Half-tracks

Alan, thanks, I only googled Motor Bn so didn't get fitters' vehicles. I also have pics of Carriers with Solothurn 20mm on them but they don't fit in with a Motor Bn either.

Best use for a PIAT

Just watched a 1945 film of some British Infantry house clearing. They opened the doors using a PIAT, as a battering ram !

Re: How do you arm your Rapid Fire battalions

I try to treat each RF Company as though it were a section with an NCO with SMG, LMG Team and Riflemen some with Panzerfaust.

Re: Is this Cromwell OP Tank painted in dapple cam ?

Don, just watched it again and realised that the RA crew are playing host to some RTR types in their black berets it isn't until the Cromwell drives off that the entire crew is visible with their khaki berets.

Re: .50 cal on British Half-tracks

I've just spent the afternoon looking at British troops in 1944 on Youtube and found only 5 British Half-tracks with pulpit fitted and four had no gun at all fitted and the fifth had an MG34 !

Re: Start of the Sherman hybrid production line

Leon, I've just found an ancient Armtec vacuform conversion for the cast hull on the Airfix Sherman so I'm going to be shameless and have a go copying you.

.50 cal on British Half-tracks

I want to do a company of 8 RB in Normandy. I have a photograph of one of their half-tracks fitted with the pulpit but there is no gun mounted. Does anyone have evidence that they actually used the .50 cal on the pulpit, or any other gun for that matter.
