Re: What a tanker! anyone?

Exactly, I shudder with horror  when I see those type of games, may as well just play with rocks and bits of wood Which opens up that gigantic can of worms that just because a game table looks like WWII, is it actually a game about WWII? Or is it just a generic game system that could as easi...

Re: What a tanker! anyone?

It’s a light game, but surprisingly tactical and rewarding. We played a Normandy game in 20mm on a 6x4 table and it looked about right and worked well. Rules are very quick to grasp and with experience a game could be somewhere between one or two hours at the most. Perfect for a pick up game, all yo...

Re: The Road to Bremen Chain of Command campaign AAR Updated 06 05 18

This campaign was a blast. Many thanks! thmbs2) thmbs2) Thanks. I have to say I thinks it's the one I've enjoyed the most. The Germans have quite a challenge and a wide variety of units, so it makes for a lot of creative thought trying to plot the best defence knowing you have unreliable elements. ...

Re: The Road to Bremen Chain of Command campaign AAR Updated 13 04 18

The battle over the bombed out ruins of Bremen continues as the Fallschirmjager desperately try to hold out for another campaign turn. They've done enough to deny the British campaign victory, but can they hold on for one more game and bring this to a minor German victory? It's a big ask, it is Apri...

Re: What a tanker - AAR/Review

My understanding is the Lardies were looking for a light, interactive group game that played quickly. It’s a game that introduces new players to concepts of command decision making and dealing with ‘friction’. I could see this game as a great club game and one that may help transition some younger p...

Re: Samur

It’s got a great collection, particularly the French armour (not surprisingly). The day I was there they were firing up the engine on the PzII Lynx, in the exhibition hall....very noisy and a lot of fumes, but very atmospheric.

Re: The Road to Bremen Chain of Command campaign AAR Updated 13 04 18

I was flicking through the latest edition of Wargames Soldiers and Strategy and began reading Richard Clarke’s Up Front column (if you don’t already know, Rich is one of the owners of Too Fat Lardies and the designer of Chain of Command). I can’t tell you how pleasantly surprised I was to read this:...

They look great, lovely job with the colour modulation. I have these kits and they are very nice. I’m quite a fan of the s-model range.

Re: Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution

For some reason that I couldn't work out, several floors of galleries were closed the day I visited. These were the ones dealing with specific wars and I suspect these contain dioramas and other artefacts. I will be back in Beijing next year, so I will visit again in the hope of seeing more.
