Start of the Sherman hybrid production line
Re: Start of the Sherman hybrid production line
Really enjoying this thread! Please keep it coming.....
Greatness is not in where we stand,
but in what direction we are moving,
we must sail sometimes in the wind,
and sometimes against it,
but sail we must, and not drift nor lie at anchor.

Re: Start of the Sherman hybrid production line
Basic paint job done, dark green over the base coat, feathered in medium tone and then feathered in highlight. Finished off with some 'stipple' dark green.
Colour contrast doesnt show up that well in the pics.
Now to varnish and do the decals and washes.

Leon,
How did you achieve the weld lines on the additional armor plating on the sides of the hull?

Very dusty and atmospheric, they look like seasoned campaigners.....

Re: Start of the Sherman hybrid production line
The seam joing the hull sections is a roll of milliput pressed onto the body, then talced and cut down to the right width. Then dusted with talc again and a thin needle ( Beading needles are good) used to put a 'beaded' texture along its length. Then talced again and tidied up with a scalpel. The seams around the edges of the applique panels is just going in with the tip of a a scalpel blade and scoring the weld in.z1pp132002 wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 8:10 am Leon,

Leon, I've just found an ancient Armtec vacuform conversion for the cast hull on the Airfix Sherman so I'm going to be shameless and have a go copying you.

Hello Alan,
And why not I say, a bit of fettling is good for the soul. Think theres a resin one from Friendship models that looks neat that might be worth a go. Personally I have all I need lol
Will be interesting to see what you come up with Alan.

A blast from the past indeed! I had one of those, plus the Armtec German MG sets. They are on a couple of my models somewhere....Alanmccoubrey wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 7:09 pm Leon, I've just found an ancient Armtec vacuform conversion for the cast hull on the Airfix Sherman so I'm going to be shameless and have a go copying you.
