British use of the Sherdozer

I was reading a 1984 series on D-Day Assault Engineers in Military Modelling Magazine today and in the article which covers the Centaur Dozer is mentions, almost in passing, that the British found it very difficult to lay hands on any of the conversion kits for the Sherdozer. Does anyone have evidence that the British actually used the thing ?

This came up on the Battlegroup forum recently. I too thought there was little use of Sherman dozers in British units and only very late in the war but someone posted this photo which according to the IWM was in Normandy.

there was an article in an old tankette stating that the british view on dozer m4's was
m4 & m4a1, useless as dozer tanks due to the aero engine.
m4a4 ok but not great
m4a2 great as it was a diesel engine,
there are pics of gb m4 dozers but not many.
great pic that was posted though.

The British Army wasn't over keen on it anyway because the blade couldn't be angled, just sooo picky !

Not picky. Its pretty useless for digging shell scrapes for fire positions if it doesnt angle - we still had this problem with our Chieftain dozer ( 1 per Squadron) in the 1980s.

And yet we still put all that effort into the Centaur Dozer. Another thing that I learned from the series was that in 1945 Hobart reported that the AVRE shouldn't be a converted tank but a specially built armoured vehicle capable of carrying/operating all those specialist engineer devices and that extra troops for dismounted action should be carried in an APC, how long did it take the army to react to that ?
