Forced me to finish my Brits
Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
Hi all,
Alan, Always like to see your kit. I would like to say inspiring but I have the model making skills of a chimp. Great thread,
Cheers,
Ian

And here was me thinking you had found something and not told us.Alanmccoubrey wrote: ↑Mon Apr 23, 2018 7:03 am Don, there was a mix in most units anyway but the real reason is that I've run out of SCC15. I use Starmer's Vallejo mix and until I get up to York on Friday to collect all the paints that my daughter got me in the Boyes' sale a while ago I don't have the correct paints to do the mix, so I gave the SCC2 mix a go.

Ian, I made three attempts at scratching an M10 turret today and failed in all three, back to the grindstone tomorrow

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
This tatty Sherman arrived from ebay on Saturday morning so I've tarted it up a little using the instructions in the old Airfix Guide "Military Modelling" with stowage hidden under a piece of foil.

That foil is a good idea, I tend to use milliput which is a much longer process.
Panels on the front look interesting.
Yes I know I should be doing mine

Finished the M10 turret at last, its not perfect but it pleases me if only for all the time it took.

Nice work Alan, have you got any guidance on how to do it as I have one needing to be converted as well.

Well done Alan.....
Greatness is not in where we stand,
but in what direction we are moving,
we must sail sometimes in the wind,
and sometimes against it,
but sail we must, and not drift nor lie at anchor.

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
Will, I gave up doing it "properly" by measuring each plate etc and ended up doing it one plate at a time to fill in the relevant hole. I started with the basic turreted floor shape, then the two side plates, then the rear and finally the front.Fire at Will wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 8:53 am Nice work Alan, have you got any guidance on how to do it as I have one needing to be converted as well.

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
I spent this evening working out how to get a Loyd Carrier for the 4.2" Mortar in the MG Company. The tracks are from two Airfix Bren Carriers, the towing hook also, the seats are from the Quad and the spare trailer wheel is a resin item from David R, all the rest is plastic card.
