Any tips from the Brethren on how to shade a black beauty? Black horse with grey highlights look a bit naff, in my 'umble opinion. I was wondering if there was a better technique I could employ to get a nice highlight on a 15mm scale black horse?

Hi Harry , because jet black is so stark , grey really shows up as a highlight really easily , i tend to shade it in in really really dark grey ,darker than Panzer grey even and then ,graduate down lighter from there. It doesn't take much to get a contrast.
It really comes down to how much effort or time your prepared t0 get the desired result. Also the 15mm scale makes it that bit harder. A little goes a long way

Try adding a little blue to your black to do highlights instead of using grey. Looks less washed out and gives the effect of slight sheen on the horses' coat.
